The azaleas are in bloom, the fountains have been dyed green for St. Patrick's Day, and it's almost time for the Savannah Music Festival - spring is one of our favorite times of year in the "Hostess City of the South."
At Heideldesign, we're proud of our long-time relationship with the Savannah Music Festival, which every year brings around 500 of the world's finest musicians to Savannah. Attendees come from all over the country and around the world for this 17-day festival each spring.
But before they arrive in Savannah, most of them spend time browsing the Savannah Music Festival website, developed by Heideldesign.
The Music Festival site's public interface is clean and concise for the front-end user, but the back-end is a complex combination of content and code powered by Wordpress. There is a lot of information to organize so web users can easily search the festival calendar by date, genre, venue, artist and more.
A custom Wordpress calendar plugin ties in with the music fest's backend databases to enable fast and easy sharing of festival information. A single set of artist and concert information prevents duplication of data and workload. It's a write once, use everywhere method that keeps the printed collaterals, advertising and website in sync. Extensive use of tags and categories for the events makes the calendar easy to filter and create a custom, tailor made festival experience.
The Savannah Music Festival begins one week from today, and we're looking forward to attending several shows. Then 17 days later when the festival winds down, we'll be ready to gear up with organizers to keep refining and improving the website for 2018.
