About the Site
Ellis Square was one of Savannah GA's nine original city squares. Bordering City Market, the square was used as a market square. Eventually a market house was constructed on the site. In the 1950s, a parking garage was built and the square's identity was lost.

In 2006, the City of Savannah began restoring the square. First by demoliting the garage, then by digging down to create a large underground parking area. The square's original footprint will be restored on the surface and two plans are currently available for public review.

Their website aims to inform the public and surrounding businesses of the progress of the project, as well as to solicit input on the square design plans. Extensive feedback opportunities are presented, including surveys and commenting on selected pages and entries. The weblog is an informal diary of the project, to give visitors additional, casual insights.
